He may have held a racing license for some time now, but Mick Schumacher has to get a driver’s license just like everyone else. Mercedes-Benz sees the irony of their young F3 teammate having to prove his driving ability and has made a series of videos playing with the idea.
It’s a funny thing. A top Formula 1 driver likely got started with karts between the ages of 4 and 6. As these talented kids grow, they move up the racing ladder to junior single seater series and eventually to a series like Formula 3. That’s one of the best places to be noticed and recruited by a Formula 1 team like Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport.
At some point along the way, if these racers want to drive themselves to the track or take their friends out after school, they must submit to the coming-of-age tradition of the driving test.
We hope to watch Mick Schumacher do great things this season and later in his career, like always paying attention to posted speed limits on public motorways.
