A car gets dirty from sitting in the open. There might be airborne particles or bird droppings that you cannot see with a quick glance. There may be mold growing on your car that you cannot see. But it is there, nonetheless.

It is a good idea to wash a car at least once a week with a mild detergent and clean water. Follow your auto manufacturer's guidelines to find out what particular type of soap or detergent to use. There are also all-purpose car wash detergents available at your dealer or at any auto parts store. Mold, grime and bird droppings can eventually eat away and stain your car's paint surface, and can actually eat through your paint and cause rust. Eventually, it can affect your car's performance and resale value by eating away at the car's undercarriage.

So next time you say my car isn't that dirty you may want to take a trip to the car wash.
